Jeff Tullis

Jeff Tullis is a musician, teacher, and arts manager based in Dallas who is equally at home on-stage and backstage. As a performing artist, Jeff has felt the warmth of the lights at every major venue in the DFW area, and has had recordings broadcast on WRR 101.1 and WBEZ 91.5 (Chicago).

As production & education manager for 501(c)(3) non-profit Basically Beethoven, Jeff produces free chamber music concerts around Dallas featuring other local musicians, and coordinates free education programming and lessons for several schools in the Dallas area – including Uplift Atlas Preparatory and David W. Carter High School.

A member of the International Society of Bassists, the American Federation of Musicians (Local 72-147), and Trekorda, Jeff is an in-demand musician across genres. Jeff regularly records, performs, and tours with singer-songwriter Bomethius, and is also principal bass of the Lone Star Wind Orchestra, a Dallas area wind ensemble. Along with his brother Joey Tullis, Jeff maintains the J Tullis Music duo, presenting jazz and popular duos across North Texas. Other engagements include the San Angelo Symphony, Fort Smith Symphony, Allegro Guitar Society, and Close No Circle, a new contemporary music ensemble.

Guitar, double bass, and electric bass lessons are available virtually (via Zoom or Discord) or in-person at Jeff’s home studio in Dallas. Jeff is a Richardson ISD lesson teacher for the J. J. Pearce High School area.

Jeff’s arrangements and transcriptions have been commissioned by the 4 Strings Attached string quartet, SMU Symphony Orchestra, musicians from the Dallas Opera Orchestra and Dallas Symphony, Flamenco Fever ensemble, and the Jamal Mohamed World Music Ensemble.

As a bassist and guitarist, Jeff has performed across the southwest, including Texas (DFW, Houston, Austin), Colorado (Fairplay, Breckenridge, Alma) and Arizona, as well as internationally in France, Italy, Switzerland, and England. Jeff received his bachelor’s degree in music performance from SMU, with a minor in arts management and entrepreneurship.
